A New Direction

If you are at a crossroads in your life, you’re probably looking in the direction of the road everyone seems to be taking. The pull to follow along with the crowd is tempting. To go where the path is clear, and the ground run down by people ahead of you.  It seems safe to travel on the path that has already been taken. As humans, we tend to follow the crowd. However, is that always the best way?  The question to consider “Is this the direction that will lead to a more fulfilled life?” Before you step, can we encourage you today to think twice before you choose the road everyone is taking? Pause. Take a moment. Inhale a deep breath…..and exhale. Now, consider where you are and where you want to be.  We are on the less traveled road; we are just a few turns down from where you stand—having stood in the same place you find yourself. We were once at the very crossroads you find yourself today. 

You can feel the tugging in your heart, the longing for something different than the world in which we live has to offer. You search for people going in a similar direction, someone with the same desires as you, but all you find are people climbing the path to more. More money, more success, more things, a bigger house, a fancier car... the call for more is piercing and consuming.  It echoes so loudly, bouncing off the vast walls of an unfulfillable void. The crowd around you seems only to yell, “Be your own boss, claim it's yours, work harder, do more, sacrifice your time, fill that space with stuff!”

For us, we have chosen a life different than that. We've decided to choose a life where less is more.  Less success and money, but more time with our kids, husbands, and friends.  Less stuff, but more peace, calm, and space.  Once you experience it, you won’t ever want to go back. Once you see how your life can be, you’ll crave less to experience more!  We hope here at Whimsy, we can encourage you to choose a simpler life. It is not always easy, and it is a sacrifice, but has an overwhelming and tremendous return.  

We hope to provide a community of others who desire the same things; we hope we can encourage you, share things we have learned over the years, and be a voice that speaks a different message.
